Covid-19 restrictions in NSW and Victoria have caused more changes to the event calendar. Here are the latest updates:
The Virtual Hoppet “Do It Your Way” was a great success in 2020 and is back for 2021 if not by popular demand at least by necessity. Entrant can complete the 42km, 21km or 7km events wherever and in whichever modality they choose between August 1-29, including include walking, running, cycling, mountain biking, skiking, roller skiing or even cross country skiing (but not on the Hoppet course on race day). Already participants from all around the world have been posting their times: https://www.alpinetiming.com.au/results/r220
The cost of the event is $10 for Australian residents and $15 for those living overseas, including a printable race number, a souvenir neck warmer and a post event certificate.
Though limited to those in regional Victoria the new AUSXC Junior Cup races at Falls Creek on Saturday 21st August will go ahead if there are enough participants pre-registered by Wednesday. Online entry is available here via Alpine Timing: https://alpinetiming.com.au/
The online entry is open for the Rocky Valley Rush at Falls Creek on Sunday 22nd August – https://alpinetiming.com.au/rg240 – and the event poster is linked here. The same as for the AUSXC Junior Cup the previous day, registrations are needed by Wednesday for the event to go ahead.
With the latest NSW regional restrictions the AUSXC Junior Cup at Perisher is unable to proceed on August 21/22. Organisers have indicated that they will consider new dates in September if the restrictions are lifted.
Who know what restrictions will be in place in three weeks time, but that’s when final decisions will need to be made for the rescheduled AUS Open races at Falls Creek on September 4/5. The online entry is now open: https://alpinetiming.com.au/rg227
