NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS)

The NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Winter Sports Program is supported as an international development program with a world class component delivered in partnership with the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA), Snow Australia (SA) and NSW Snow Sports (NSWSS).

A small number of individual scholarships are offered in the disciplines outside of the OWIA. Currently (updated 2016) two Cross Country Skiing Scholarships are offered – one for an athlete aiming for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, and one with prospects for 2022.

Victoria Institute of Sport (VIS)

The VIS was set up to assist the development of Victoria’s best athletes. It was established in 1990 by the State Government as a private trustee company, with its Board of Directors appointed by the Victorian Minister for Sport.

Their vision is to be the leading provider of high performance sports programs for talented athletes, enabling them to achieve national and international success.

Support through the individual athlete scholarship program is offered annually to athletes from sports which do not have a Tier 1 VIS program. The scholarship period runs from July 1st to June 30th each year, with applications generally opening in April.
